Журнал «Сучасність»: історія, традиції, новаторство

Abstract

Метою статті є вивчення основних етапів становлення і розвитку журналу «Сучасність»: від заснування в м. Мюнхені (Німеччина) до діяльності редакційного колективу в м. Києві (Україна). Методологічну основу дослідження склали такі загальнонаукові методи як аналіз і синтез, які полягали у визначенні підстав для створення і з’ясування причин для закриття журналу «Сучасність»; за допомогою порівняльно-історичного методу, який припускає вивчення виникнення і розвитку об’єкта дослідження в хронологічні послідовності, розглянуто становище ЗМІ в СРСР та еміграційних видань, виявлено загальні особливості функціонування вітчизняної преси та діаспорних часописів на прикладі «Сучасності»; метод аналізу документальної інформації, дав змогу ґрунтовно проаналізувати текстове наповнення видання. Зроблено висновки, що у другій половині ХХ ст. в Радянському Союзі існував культ особистості, цензура, політичні репресії, в результаті чого збільшилася кількість українських емігрантів, зокрема, національно свідомих та активних громадських діячів. Таким чином сформувалися усі необхідні умови для розвитку еміграційної преси, яскравим прикладом якої став журнал «Сучасність». Його редакційний колектив намагався висвітлювати увесь спектр проблем, які турбують українців на Батьківщині та в еміграції. Після переїзду часопису в Україну на початку її незалежності, його автори переймалися питаннями літератури, мистецтва, науки, культури, суспільного життя і створюють імідж «видання незалежної української думки». Через складне фінансове становище у 2013 р. «Сучасність» припинила своє існування.

The purpose of the article is to study the main stages of the formation and development of the magazine «Suchasnost»: from its foundation in Munich (Germany) to the activities of the editorial team in Kyiv (Ukraine). The methodological basis of the research was made up of such general scientific methods as analysis and synthesis, which consisted in determining the grounds for the creation and clarifying the reasons for the closure of the magazine «Suchasnost»; with the help of the comparative-historical method, which assumes the study of the origin and development of the object of research in chronological order, the situation of the mass media in the USSR and emigration publications was considered, the general features of the functioning of the domestic press and diaspora magazines were revealed using the example of «Suchasnost»; the method of analysis of documentary information made it possible to thoroughly analyze the text content of the publication. It was concluded that in the second half of the 20th century in the Soviet Union there was a cult of personality, censorship, political repression, as a result of which the number of Ukrainian emigrants, in particular, nationally conscious and active public figures, increased. In this way, all the necessary conditions for the development of the emigre press were created, a vivid example of which was the magazine «Suchasnost». Its editorial team tried to cover the entire range of problems that concern Ukrainians in the Motherland and in exile. After the magazine moved to Ukraine at the beginning of its independence, its authors were concerned with the issues of literature, art, science, culture, and social life and created the image of a «publication of independent» Ukrainian thought Due to a difficult financial situation in 2013, «Suchasnost» ceased to exist.
