New Challenges Imposed by the Pandemic on a Ukrainian University
    (Arab World English Journal (AWEJ) Special Issue, 2021) Матвієнко, О. В.; Кузьміна, С. А.; Ямчинська, Т. І.; Кузьмін, Є. В.; Глазунова, Т. В.; Матвиенко, О. В; Кузьмина, С.А; Ямчинская, Т. И.; Кузьмин, Е. В.; Глазунова, Т. В.; Matvienko, O. V.; Kuzmina, S. A.; Yamchunska, T. I.; Kuzmin, Y. V; Glazunova, T. V.
The article’s main aim is to highlight the challenges English language education faced in Ukraine after the outbreak of the pandemic. Since Ukrainian education had traditionally been face-to-face before the crisis, and technology integration was slow, the lack of online infrastructure and distance learning methodologies in Ukrainian universities aggravated uncertainty and anxiety regarding learning quality. The authors show how the Vinnytsia State Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Pedagogical University (VSPU) withstands the challenge of reflecting on the experience, which might be typical of higher education institutions. The research engages 321 future teachers of English and applies mixed methods. The significance lies in consolidated effort and capacity to modernize that yield positive outcomes, despite insufficient experience and funding. It also states that student opinions count.

Educational Technologies for Maturing Democratic Approaches to Educational Practices in Ukraine
    (Київ; Вінниця : Планер, 2016) Powell, David V.; Пауел, Д. В.; Kuzmina, S. A.; Кузьміна, С. А.; Кузьмина, С. А.; Yamchynska, T. I.; Ямчинська, Т. І.; Ямчинская, Т. И.
Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University has taken significant steps in policy and practice toward democratization of education. However, many Ukrainian universities have failed to meet European standards required of the Bologna Process, intended to render Ukrainian higher education equal to leading European universities. Superficial changes have not eliminated corruption, poor educational quality, excessive administrative control, or a workload that leaves little room for research or creative work. This paper shares the VSPU experience integrating educational technologies to promote democratization of pedagogy, providing students and faculty with better opportunities for professional growth to become competitive on the educational market of our time

    (NAC-WCCT. North American Chapter Journal of Interdisciplinary Education, 2016) Кузьміна, С. А.; Кузьмина, С. А.; Kuzmina, S. A.; Пауел, Д.; Пауэл, Д.; Powell, D.; Цвік, C.; Цвик, С.; Cwick, S.; Халід, T.; Халид, T.; Khalid, T.; Софо, С.; Sofo, S.
Education is a democratizing catalyst that enhances choice, individual welfare, and productivity by increasing access and equity of opportunity. However, there are significant challenges to democratization of education, particularly in emerging countries. Superficial changes have not eliminated corruption, poor educational quality, or excessive administrative control. Lack of government support and transparency, conflicting goals, and educational and socio-political ideologies further limit progress toward truly democratic ideals. New styles of education management are needed to flatten governance structures, open access to programs and resources, enhance earning relationships, and empower students to direct their own learning
