Abstract
У статті розглянуто питання формування міжгалузевої термінологічної компетентності майбутніх фахівців у сфері енергетики засобами англійської мови. Проаналізовано сучасний стан навчання іноземної мови професійного спрямування в контексті міжгалузевої термінології, обґрунтовано важливість роботи з фаховими текстами та створення міжгалузевих термінологічних глосаріїв, а також визначено основні шляхи вирішення питання підвищення ефективності навчання міжгалузевої термінології.
An interdisciplinary approach to teaching and studying terminology plays a key role in the teaching of industry-specific foreign terms to professional students. The detailed analysis of modern scientific literature and methodological sources reveals that sufficient attention is devoted to the problems of terminological competence acquisition in the context of English for specific purposes. However, the interdisciplinary aspect of teaching terminology to professional students is not reasoned. The article considers the development of interdisciplinary terminological competence of future specialists studying English in the field of power engineering. The current state of teaching English for specific purposes in the context of interdisciplinary terminology is analyzed. The importance of authentic professional texts and interdisciplinary terminological glossaries is substantiated. Detailed analysis of English Power Engineering related terms and their comparison to their native language meaning gives professional students a better understanding of the terms’ concepts helping master their scientific domain. The interdisciplinary aspect of terminology and its wider application within professional and scientific contexts are considered. It is important to acquaint future power engineers with the active nature of terminology through working with existing industry-specific sources and creating their personal interdisciplinary glossaries. The main ways to solve the problem of improving the effectiveness of interdisciplinary terminology are identified.
