The article analyzes work of the International Jazz Festival “Vinnytsia Jazzfest”. Dynamics of the festival and specific festival programs have been studied. Development tendencies of the project from foundation to formation of the large-scale international cultural action have been examined. The article defines role and place of the jazz festival in the cultural life of Vinnytsia and its importance for development of modern Ukrainian jazz music. In 1996 despite the collapse of the Soviet concert touring system, loss of connections with concert organizations and lack of funding, Vinnytsia Region Philharmonic Society supported the idea of jazz musicians Y.Shepeta and M.Gladetsky and started the jazz festival. Since that time “International Days of Jazz Music in Vinnytsia” (since 2012 – “Vinnytsia Jazzfest”) has been held annually in September supported by “Charitable Foundation promoting development of talents in Podillya region”. The festival cooperates with cultural foundations, foreign ministries of various countries and cultural institutions, such as the cultural department of the US Embassy and Goethe-Institut. Among the festival’s partners there are Pro Helvetia Schweizer Kulturstiftung (Switzerland); The German Music Council; Embassies of Russia, Lithuania, Sweden and Finland; The Ministry of Culture of Brazil; Spanish Foundation “Spedidam”; French, Czech, Italian cultural centers; Austrian Cultural Forum; International Foundation “Renaissance”. In 2006 at the XI festival " International Days of Jazz Music in Vinnytsia " festival organizers launched a new music project called "Vinnytsya jazz crossroads." The purpose of the project was the desire to enable Vinnytisa musicians work with the stars of world jazz. Hosting and supporting of this project provided impetus to the development of jazz performance in Vinnytsia region. Consequently, various Vinnytsia jazz groups have emerged, among them there are “Jazz Atmosphere”, Roman Kulmatytsky quartet, the only Ukrainian municipal pop brass band “VinBand”, jazz singer Oksana Slavna. Since 2006 all festival concerts have been broadcast on regional television and radio live. This happens due to the partnership relations that have formed between the Regional State Broadcasting Company "Vinter" and the jazz festival. The undoubted achievement of the festival was launch of the all- Ukrainian annual jazz contest of young performers “Junior Jazz”, which gives prospects for further development of jazz in Vinnytsia, Ukraine and abroad. In 2011 there was launched a tradition of starting the festival with "Jazz de Paris" - public outdoor jazz concerts at the Theater Square in the city center with participation of Vinnytsia municipal brass band "VinBand" and winners of the national jazz competition of young performers. Over the years of the festival’s existence the best music bands and individual performers from Ukraine and all over the globe have become its participants. International jazz festival “Vinnytsia Jazzfest” that originated in 1996, went through growth, development, prosperity, change of format and has become a large-scale cultural project with broad international representation. The project presents the best examples of world jazz, thus introducing fans of contemporary music to the world’s finest pieces.en
